Demand Response Practitioners’ Perspective

This conference will focus on regulatory and policy updates from FERC, NERC and ERCOT as well as knowledge sharing from market practitioners, technology firms and utilities active in the demand response marketplace.

Market Research Survey.  For a second year, the energy markets consulting company Skipping Stone will be conducting a survey of attendees before the opening session regarding their opinions about customer participation in demand response programs and markets. The results will be presented during the Conference.  The research conducted  with those attending the PLMA conferences in 2012 has become a valuable tool for gauging Demand Response acceptance and growth potential. Kenneth W. Anderson, Jr., Commissioner, Public Utility Commission of Texas

Commissioner Anderson is an attorney with more than 20 years of experience in private practice in the areas of corporate finance law and regulatory and administrative legal matters. He previously served as Director of Governmental Appointments in the Office of Governor Rick Perry from 2001 to early 2008. In March 2012, Mr. Anderson was appointed to the Advisory Council to the Board of Directors of the Electric Power Research Institute. Since May 2012 Mr. Anderson has served on the Texas Reliability Entity’s Board of Directors.

The Honorable Mark Strama, Texas House of Representatives

Mark Strama, elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2004, is a native Texan who has divided his career between public service and private business. After graduating from Brown University, he worked on Ann Richards’ successful 1990 campaign for governor. He went on to become chief of staff for State Senator Rodney Ellis. In 1995, Mark left government to become director of programs at Rock the Vote, where he helped register more than a million new voters. He has been named "Legislator of the Year" by the Texas Renewable Energy Association, "Texas Technology Champion" by TechAmerica, and a "Legacy" award winner by the Texas Wind Coalition.
